These excerpts are from rules and regulations adopted by the board of directors
in conformity with state laws governing and regulating the management and
operation of all cemeteries. Complete rules and regulations are open for public
inspection at all times at our offices.
VISITING HOURS at the cemetery are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM during the winter months; and 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the summer.
BUSINESS OFFICE hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.
CHILDREN under 16 years of age are not permitted unless accompanied by adults. They must be well controlled under all circumstances and are not to use bicycles or roller skates.
DOGS are not permitted, except when kept within an automobile and complete restrained. WALKING ACROSS INTERMENT SECTIONS promiscuously is carefully to be avoided, except as necessary to go directly to and from a specific interment property. FUNERAL SERVICES are of a sacred personal character, exclusively for the family and friends of the deceased. Accordingly, other visitors will respectfully and reverently refrain from intruding in areas where funeral services are being conducted.
AUTOMOBILE SPEED LIMIT is 10 miles per hour. Radios should be turned off, or turned down so as not to be heard outside the car. Motorcycles and bicycles are not permitted except on specific missions approved by the superintendents. Drivers and riders must strictly observe all the reverent properties and will not park on the grass at any time.
LOUD TALKING, LAUGHING, WHISTLING or other boisterous conduct – PICKNICKING or lying on lawns or benches – PEDDLING, begging, or distributing literature – wearing of inappropriate, abbreviated, or IMPROPER CLOTHING – FISHING – all are entirely out of keeping with the atmosphere of so sacred a place, and cannot be condoned or permitted because they are certain to be disturbing and offensive to those whose loved ones are at rest in the Memorial Gardens.
PLANTING OR DIGGING by anyone of other than the cemetery personnel must be prohibited. All permanent planting must be under the superintendent’s supervision and in accordance with officially approved plans of the landscape architect if the full beauty of the cemetery is to be preserved and enhances.
BRONZE MARKERS are only allowed in cemetery and to be set only by personnel. All bronze markers can either be set on top of granite or set in concrete flush to the ground. Anything not attached will be removed or discarded. DECORATIONS are not permitted and will be removed and discarded, including: glass jars, tin cans, pottery, toys, mementos, chimes, tree decorations, shepherd hooks, benches, plaques, all crosses (glowing, wood, metal) and all other similar decorations.
INVERTIBLE VASES only, preferably of non-staining, non-rusting bronze, are to be used as floral receptables on graves. They are instantly useable, yet promptly out of sight when not in use. They prove indispensable in preservation of utmost beauty at all times.
GLASS JARS, TIN CANS, POTTERY or similar containers obviously must be prohibited as they cause constant litter, multiply maintenance chores and costs, and through rust, sharp edges, and breakage, create an untenable injury hazard to men and equipment.
EASEL WREATHS AND ARTIFICIAL FLOWERS can be permitted on graves only during the winter months, November through March. They are not to be used during the summer, April through October. Wet rains and hot summer conditions disintegrate the dyes, acetates, and other chemicals and coloring used in wreaths resulting in unsightly staining of memorials, and causing extensive and expensive damage to the grass areas.
POTTED PLANTS AND FLORAL BASKETS may be placed on interment locations only on Easter, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Those availing themselves of this privilege must also remove the container within five days of placement.
DISCARDED FLOWERS, PAPERS, and all other waste material must not be left to litter the lawns but must be put in the rubbish disposal facilities provided.
FLORAL PROCEDURES AT INTERMENT call for the placement of all flowers into a carefully arranged floral mound promptly following each interment. The flower baskets will be saved and kept at the cemetery maintenance building for a period of ten days where they may be called for and obtained within this period. The cemetery however, is not normally responsible for flowers or containers placed at time of interments or during the year. Removal of flowers after interment should be done under supervision of the family.
MEMORIAL MARKERS for family or individuals, and other items, must be of the approved quality, style, material, size, design, and be installed according to specifications as uniformly established for use throughout the entire cemetery, and as posted in the cemetery office. Only by strict adherence to highest standards of permanence, beauty, and uniformity can the utmost in enduring beauty and immaculate care be assured for the everlasting protection and benefit of every family with a memorial estate in these gardens.
RIGID CONCRETE OR METAL outer cases must be used for every internment to assure complete permanent protection. Wood cases are prohibited because as they collapse the ground sinks, and even constant, expensive re-filling and re-sodding cannot preserve the beauty of the plot. Approved vaults are obtainable quite economically through the funeral home.
NO GRATUITIES, TIPS, or other renumerations are to be given or paid to any cemetery employee in any capacity, as all employees are adequately paid for their assigned duties. Special requests should not be made of employees which may conflict with and jeopardize fulfilling regular duties and assigned tasks.
PLEASE CONTACT CEMETERY OFFICE in regard to requests for assistance or special services, to suggest beneficial improvement ideas, or to file any possible complaints. By clearing these situations directly with the office, instead of through a chance workman, you can be assured every attention being given your wishes by the right person through proper channels without the disruption of regular work schedules and assignments.
THANKS TO ALL
is heartily extended by the management for your willing
observance and complete cooperation with these necessary rules and
regulations. Only through your helpful consideration can you be assured the
constant unmarred beauty, permanent attractiveness, and inherent spirit of
reverence and sacredness which mean so much, and which you have the
unequivocal right to expect.
