A memorial park is a modern cemetery with a difference. The most noticeable
difference is that rathe than the competing headstones of traditional cemeteries,
memorial parks use dignified sculptured bronze markers laying flat on
landscaped plots to memorialize a grave. This allows visitors to enjoy the
beautifully manicured garden-style grounds without distractions. The concept of
a memorial park is to provide visitors with an atmosphere of natural beauty,
peace for quiet meditation, and a sense of dignity and honor to the memory of
loved ones.
Because it provides a focal point for memorializing the deceased. To remember,
and be remembered, are natural human needs. Throughout human history,
memorialization of the dead has been a key component of almost every culture.
Providing a permanent resting place for the deceased is a dignified treatment for
a loved one’s mortal remains, which fulfills the natural human desire for
memorialization.
When you purchase a plot, you are actually purchasing the right to designate
who may be interred in the space, rather than buying the space itself. The space
remains the property and responsibility of the actual cemetery. A deed to this
right is issued to the purchaser.
Cemeteries are required to keep accurate records describing the ownership of
“Internment Rights,” or the right to use a space. These include numbering
systems that endure no space is assigned to more than one owner, except as
specified by the purchaser.
This is the site numbering system that we use to identify each specific piece for
property for internment rights. The sections are the individual gardens marked
by letters (A, B, C, D, E, I, J, L, M, and N.) The Lots are numbered within each
section. And the plots are numbered within each lot. So for example, a specific
piece of property in the Garden of Peace would be marked at A:210:4.
These are the containers in which the casket or cremation urn is placed. Burial
vaults and liners are made of a variety or combination of materials including
concrete, stainless steel, plastic, and fiberglass. Depending on the construction of
materials, some containers add protection from the outside elements in addition
to its function of supporting the soil above the casket and protecting the casket
from the weight of the earth and maintenance equipment that will pass over the
grave. It also helps resist water and preserves the beauty of the memorial park
by preventing the ground from settling.
Restlawn was developed as a memorial park. The natural beauty of the area is
not impaired by many rows of tombstones. Rather, flush bronze memorials that
are level with the lawn are used to memorialize a grave. These beautiful bronze
memorials may be purchased either for a single grave or as a companion style
marker for two side-by-side graves.
